Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah2020

Trumpeter, composer, and producer Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah is a Third generation Chieftain in the Afro-New Orleanian culture of Louisiana [regionally known as the Black Indians of New Orleans] this cultural practice represents one of the compositional roots of his Stretch Music concept which looks to stretches Jazz's rhythmic, melodic and harmonic conventions to encompass a wide range of music, languages, and cultures. As much a philosophy as a musical approach, he creates a sound that is forward-looking and genre blind in its acculturation of forms and processes, where reassessment of past modes of operating coupled with a relentless search to find musical and cultural bridges via these tenets, seeks to ‘unify all people’ and heighten this generation’s outlook, communal dialogue and art-making.

“Each generation should have a chance to create and contribute something of their own making.”
